Hello,

I had a good six-month check-up with my cardio. Everything seems stable -- the aortic and tricuspid murmurs aren't loud enough to require any action. The microvascular disease hasn't caused more than mild abnormalities. He estimated another 5-10 years before I'll need any kind of intervention, whatever that may mean.

I spoke to him about the results of my Holter, which revealed a delayed heart beat that gets "stuck" and causes temporary pump failure. I'm not sure what the clinical term is. The episodes last for hours. No atrial fib or life-threatening arrthymia, but something he wants to treat with a beta-blocker. I'm still mulling that over.

That's all for now! I hope everyone's enjoying the global-warming!

Best,

Hi Kim. I was just thinking about you the other day. Glad that you are pleased with your cardio visit. Thinking 5-10 years out means you really shouldn't have to think about this at all anymore!! You can have a break from the worry. That's very good news.

Are the arrthymias bothering you? You say they last for hours. Mine were PVC's (premature ventricular contractions) and they were driving me crazy. I actually felt as if I were several times more hyper than normal....all the time. It's like I didn't know which came first, the event to start up the PVC's or the PVC's which caused me to get all hyper. I went on a beta blocker (25mg Atenolol)and they calmed down enormously. I would still experience them with caffeine (chocolate ;) ) and emotional situations (intense movies, loud concerts, rushing around for whatever reason). Then, they just seemed to come back to bother me. So the cardio upped my dose to 50 mg. and after about a month on the 50 mg, I just don't get them AT ALL!! It's amazing. I didn't realize until they were gone, how much they were distracting my normal existence and wreaking havoc on my day to day well-being. Anyway, there's my 2 cents on beta blockers!!

Let us know what you decide and how it goes.

And, the weather?? All we've had is about 40 days of rain!! Tomorrow is supposed to be "dry". That is, we'll maybe see some blue sky, sunshine (what IS that thing in the sky?) but the ground will still be soggy and we'll probably get steamy and feel as if we're in a terrarium!! Looking forward to spring. Wet winters often mean glorious springs and summers!! Hope so!

Be well. Marguerite

Thank you.

I know what you mean about the rain and glorious springs! If Oregon is anything like the state of Washington in the spring, then I envy you! Such beautiful flowers!

Best,

Kim, glad you had a good appointment.

5 - 10 years before you need any intervention - that's a bit confusing. But figure that the intervention he's thinking of today will probably have many improvements in 5 - 10 years. Or other, more friendly, "interventions" will be available

What ever those interventions are????

Karlynn,

I don't know if he was referring to the atherosclerosis becoming a bigger issue, or the valve ... I didn't ask. I'd rather not think about it. My symptoms are the same as always, so it's probably heart vs. valve disease. Other than a nasty cold at the moment, I'm doing fine.

Thank you ... btw, have you bought Paul McCartney's new one? It's lovely.

Blessings,
