Have just come from the hospital. Jim only had his angiogram done today. They discovered serious blockages in all 4 arteries. He wasn't exactly sure of percentages, seems to remember them mentioning 70% and 80%

Anyway the good news is that they decided he was a candidate for Angioplasty. He has had 4 stents put in. I was so worried about him having bypass surgery...I just can't believe he avoided it...I have no doubt that all of your prayers have helped him immensely. I cannot thank you all enough.

He will be in the hospital a few more days. He has to see his own dr's and get advice on diet, exercise etc.

Oh, Maureen, that is such great news. I hope those stents last for a good long time.

Give my best to your brother and don't forget some kind of celebratory treat this weekend.

I can't believe it  ...my brother is home ! The hospital said he could go home this afternoon. Apparently they only keep you for 24 hours after the angioplasty. He is now resting at my brother's house. He looks so well, you'd never know by looking at him, what he's been through.

Isn't it wonderful what can be accomplished these days? I do think they toss people out of the hospital a little too soon sometimes but maybe home rest is healthier anyway.

My best to you and your family.

The great advantage to getting tossed out of the hospital fast is it doesn't give all the vicious infections that seem to thrive in the hospitals these days. I think a lot of folks are tossed out too soon, but I'd rather get out early any time rather than have to stay in too long - I'd rather be a moving target for the microbes.

My mom used to tell about having to stay in the hospital 16 days after the (uneventful) birth of my brother in 1942; and wasn't allowed to put her feet on the floor until the 10th day after the birth.
