I posted a couple weeks ago about my Mom experiencing muscle aches/joint pain throughout her body. Thanks again to those of you who responded - we brought all those ideas to her doctor. Mom continues to feel aches/pain 24/7 - maintaining things by alternating advil and tylenol. Doctors have no answers so far. (She worries constantly about taking these - possible effects to liver etc even though docotrs have said it's ok for now)

After her cardiologist, she was referred to a neurologist who has done blood and nerve tests - all negative. (This is a good thing, though mom is getting depressed that there is no easy answer.) He is having an MRI done on her lower back to see if there is a pinched nerve but I don't hold out much hope that this is the answer.

Planning on going back to GP if the MRI is negative to rediscuss the statin situation. SHe currently takes Crestor - when she went off it for two weeks there was no lessening of the pain and she has no muscle weakness so her doctors think it has nothing to do with that.

Have any of you experienced muscle tightness/joint stiffness as a result of the OHS? She is about 4 months post-op and I wonder if this could be her body reacting to the trauma of surgery....... would love to hear your thoughts on this or any other suggestions you might have.....

I've had two OHS and the only stiffness I felt was briefly the back of my neck probably from positioning during my surgery and at incision site as it was healing. I had no stiffness in arms or legs.

If it were me, I'd ask my doctors discontinue statin for longer than two weeks. That is such an easy thing to try, why not? Some people have reported they felt negative affects of statins longer than 2 weeks after stopping.

Hoping she feels better soon.... that her doctors can figure out what is going on.
Best Wishes.
