They thought he had a growth on his windpipe and took him down for surgery Thursday night. They brought him back up after 30 minutes and said no growth, just very swollen and inflamed. Then he lung specialist came back in and said they were running a cystic fybrosis test. That was also negative. Today they have put a tube through his nose and into his stomach to measure the acid in his stomach, this will stay in for 24 hours. Tonight he will have a sleep apnea test. Right now they have him on steroids and breathing treatments. They think he has acid reflux and it his eating the esophagus and windpipe lining. They also think he has asthma. Please keep praying for him. He has been in Scottish Rite for 6 days now. He is only 5 and a half months old and he is still smiling at everyone who comes in his room.

The doctor came in Friday night and wanted to know any unusual medical history from any of the family members. We told him about my husbands aortic valve. The doctor chcked for that and he does not have one.
But,the doctor said he himself had one and now has a St. Judes valve and had for 12 years and does just fine with coumadin.

Oh, God bless that sweet little boy! Will certainly keep the prayers going.

...the dear little thing! I hope he fares well over the course of this next round of tests! What a challenge!

Good thoughts coming your way!

Grandson got the okay to come home at 6 last night. He has severe acid reflux and asthma. He will be on steroids and liquid zantac. Breathing treatments every 4 hours. He has to be sitting up when he takes his bottle and can't lay down for a half hour after being fed. Hard for a 6 month old. The doctor said he will have wheezing attacks and we all need to watch for signs of breathing distress. Don't know at this time if he will outgrow it or it will get worse. My granny had asthma. I am searching the web for anything I can find on asthma in infants combined with acid reflux. I know the news could have been a lot worse and I am thankful to God that it wasn't. We will deal with this as the strong family we are. Thanks for all the prayers.
