Hi
I am Dave's daughter and he asked me to send everyone an update on how he is doing. The surgery started at 8:00 this morning. All went well and they were able to repair his valve. They are finishing up and he will be recovering in the ICU soon. It's almost 7:00 pm here CA time. But he made it through the surgery and everything looks good.
Thank you for all of your support that you have given to my Dad. It means alot to him. If you would like to email me my email is (Use email link from profile. Email address removed from post by Ross. Thanks

Thanks for the update. Hope all continues to go well

Hi I know you had robotic mvr and the maze surgery done. My question is when you got home how did you sleep? Did you sleep in a recliner? Or were you able to sleep in your regular bed? With the incisions in your side(ribs). Was it difficult to sit and lay down? Thanks for your input Dave

I slept on my back in regular bed, and are still not able to sleep on my sides 6 weeks post-op (we do not have a recliner ) Used my heart pillow to hug when getting up or laying down for the first 2 weeks after surgery to help support the ribs and chest - which was not to bad.

Started driving after 5 weeks but I am using my heart pillow to cushion my incision area from the seatbelt.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So glad to hear he is doing well. Thanks so much for keeping us posted. I have thought about him several times today and wish him well.

Thanks for posting. Glad to hear your Dad's surgery went well and he is safely 'over the mountain.' How great his surgeon was able to repair his valve.

Hope he has an uneventful, speedy recovery.

It's good to read that he had a successful repair. I wish him the best and hope he is soon home.

Wonderful news!! I pray that all goes well with him in the future and that he has an uneventful recovery.

Great News - It is also good that you are there. Prays for strength for both of you!
