Should I be concerned?

My S/O and I are going for a hot air balloon ride this Tuesday pm as a birthday gift to me.

Within the information there is a possibility of a crash landing, which has me a tad concerned - just a tad. OHS was in March 07, I'm all healed up now, but during recovery I was told I was healing crooked - guess an x-ray indicated I wasn't lining up properly during the early stages....don't know.

Strange how I'm more concerned about a crash landing than I am about the possibility of dying during this ride - which was also mentioned on their waiver.

I have nothing to worry about right? Except for maybe a couple of bruises. Or maybe I should cancel this adventure?

Thank-you in advance

Don't cancel....that is why you had OHS so you could live life maybe try swallowing a canister of helium so you will float above the floor of the gondola and I heard you don't bruise have a great flight enjoy HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY and PARTY ON http://www.1happybirthday.com/play_song.php?name=Freddie

By the way when I read the thread title I thought either you were smoking wackie tabacie or ate too mutch Bailey's fudge

My wife and I took a hot air balloon ride on our honeymoon in Arizona and crash landed. It was a jolt, but we were fine and have great pictures of every one climbing out of the basket while it was on its side. Just make sure to use your S/O as a cushion!

Also, we were surprised by how hot the balloon's jets felt on our heads (although in retrospect it's not that surprising that fire is hot...)- it felt like our hair was on fire every time the balloon pilot fired them. I would recommend wearing a hat, and making sure your camera and glasses are secure!

Sorry Greg, but we haven't gone yet. Our flight time is this evening.
But as things look it may have to be canceled due to wind. It's very windy right now 25k and gusting and they will only fly when the winds are about 8k.

LOL don't be embarrassed Greg, it was an honest mistake.
FWIW our balloon ride was canceled due to high winds, we'll try again next week.

Thanks Underdog for sharing your experience, wouldn't have thought of holding onto my camera and glasses.

At our former home (in Fort Worth near the Will Rogers Complex, Kimbell Museum, Amon Carter Museum), we frequently awoke to hot-air balloons overhead -- those burners are pretty noisy! We had a cocker-poodle mix named Sandy who enjoyed barking to keep the balloonists away. And it worked very well -- never had one land in our back yard.

Freddie.....Optimus here...GO FOR IT!!! I did it in 1991 with my husband at the time. It was great. He works for a radio station in town who had their own balloon. We were building a home in a subdivision that wasn't complete, and our lot was at the end of the line. The truck came to our back yard...(no grass yet) unloaded the balloon, fired it up....and all the neighbors came in amazement and watched as we climbed in and sailed away! Hey, if Dorothy did it, and I did it....you can too. You know, it's kinda funny, we could hear people talking on the ground, from way up there....(well, we weren't that high up, but just right) The landing was a bit of a bump, but nothing jolting, anyway you had your surgery so long ago, you will be great!!!!!! Have fun and post a picture after, k?

Susan.
