I have been using Coumadin since my surgery in 2003 and I have never had such a problem as I do now with bruising all over my body. I have so many bruises head to toe and in unusual places. I saw my cardiologist yesterday and my Coumadin level was 2.8 which was good for me. My values have been stable and my diet has not changed at all. He did a CBC and all was well. Why now after 2 years?

The things that make Joe bruise easily are a high INR and/or low platelets.

Right now he has low platelets with his INR at 2.8. His bruising is visible in many areas.

If your bloodwork looks OK, I don't have any idea. But I bet someone else will have some good advice.

Have your activities changed recently?

Whenever I fly, I know I will have bruises on the outside of my legs -- from negotiating down crowded aisles, being hit by other passengers' luggage, etc.
When I fly several weekends back-to-back, you should see me -- my legs look polka-dotted!
Right now, I have no bruises. But my husband & I are flying to Denver CO this Saturday for a 3-day mini-vacation. I'll probably acquire a few bruises over the weekend. :)

I get bizillions of bruises from my dog jumping on me and sitting in my lap (she has sharp elbows) and when my grandsons come over to play. Even my kitties parading around on me can cause BOUO ("bruises of unknown origin").

If your blood counts and INR are OK, don't worry - just try to pay attention to all the ways you can get bruised - you don't have to hit anything hard enough to cause pain to bruise when your inr's where you want it.

My reading this week was 3.5 and have mysterious bruses on my forearm. I do not remember how I got them, three in a row. I thought someone hit ro grabbed me on the arm. I have had bruising in the strangest places. But I keep an eye on them, since I am also type 2 diabetic. They have healed slower but fine.
