I'll be four weeks out on Thursday. I still get nauseous in the mornings, and being a male, I'm pretty sure I'm not expecting. Sweet / sugary food still tastes disgusting. This is getting a bit old.

I'm only on lopressor, warfarin, and baby aspirin for meds anymore. The nausea doesn't seem to care if I ate or not or if I had my meds or not. Any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear of your discomfort with the nausea. I would be checking with my PCP seeing you are now four weeks out. There has to be an explanation/treatment.

Any fluid retention? Ascites can cause nausea.

I'm down 22 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. They were monitoring a slight amount of fluid around the heart, but didn't feel it was significant enough to intervene. I'm not short of breath or anything.

Nope didn't have this either. As a matter of fact food didn't even taste bad to me! I am probably the only person on the heart surgery floor that ate ALL their dinner! I hope you get your answers soon!

Mileena

I don't know IF this has anything to do with it at all, but when I have a cold or chest "junk", alot of times when I wake up I feel nauseas, I think from swallowing alot of mucous or what ever I would be coughing up if I were awake.

No.... Mileena. You're not the only one. :)

I didn't have any 'taste of food issues' after either one of my OHS. Good food tasted just fine to me. :)

Are you taking Lopressor in the morning?
I take the generic (Metoprolol) and a couple of hours after my morning dose, I do still (after 4 yrs) have some mild nausea.

I take one in the morning and one in the evening. They have me on it to bring my resting pulse down. My blood pressure has always been fine.

Finally figured it out. I had a full panel bloodwork completed at my cardiologist office today. Turns out it was elevated pancreatic enzymes causing all the trouble. I've felt a little better the last couple days, but had I been tested on Tuesday when I couldn't stand up, they likely would have sent me to the hospital for a little I.V. meal time and no real food for a couple days. Hopefully the levels continue to decrease because my wife is threatening to take me straight to the hospital if I have another day like Tuesday (of course she's right - but who wants to go back?).

I went from making dinner and passing out trick or treat candy 16 days post op to not being able to stand up ten days later. It wasn't very fun.

Could also explain my aversion to sweets. My pancreas just doesn't want anything to do with sugar right now. It's having a hard enough time as it is. Funny how your body tells you things. I'm drinking milk all the time now. Craving calcium to get that sternum healed up.

At least now you have a definate answer. I was beginning to wonder if you were coming down with the flu and didn't know it.
