I know this has been answered before and if I didn't feel so bad, I would look it up. Now I will tap into the font of knowledge that is this forum and ask how much damage am I doing to my INR by taking 4 tylenol sinus everyday since last Friday. My Grand daughter shared her cold with me but I got a sinus infection along with it. The only thing that gets me through the day is the Tylenol. I have an appt. with my internist for a 6 months check up this Thurs. so I decided to wait until then to have this looked at. Everybody kept saying "it's just a cold" but I am miserable. I will probably call my anti-coagulation managing pharmacist after I see my doc ( I need drugs!) because I know a stint on antibiotics will also change things. Meanwhile, I would like to add something to worry about with all this Tylenol I've taking. I'm a glutton for punishment.

The study on Tylenol said that if you took more than 19 extra strength tablets tablets in one week then you had a greater than normal chance of having an INR above 6.0. Nothing further was ever thoroughly studied.

Cookie...I have found that gently using Tylenol does not cause issues with my INR. Though, last summer I was taking quite a bit over a one week period for a very painful muscular condition in my neck and shoulder. It was either more Tylenol or Prednisone (steroid). Did not want to take the steroid so....my price was an elevated INR. To top it off the Tylenol did not help.

Generally speaking....Tylenol does not do a whole lot to curb my pain. It was nice when I could take Motrin. Worked like a charm. In the last year I seem to be having more OTC medication/interactions with my Coumadin. My body must be changing. Enough to drive you crazy. Especially when you play by the rules!

Cookie:

I know that pain sinus trouble can bring. Right now, I would like to yank off my nose and reach in with an ice-tea spoon to clean out the sinus cavity on the left side.

All of the Tylenol sinus products contain 30mg. pseudoephederine per dose. Pseudoephederine is a powerful stimulant which Albert's cardiologist has said that he must not take. I was never able to find anything that stated that it interacted with Coumadin, however there are many statements that I have found that say it has adverse reactions on the heart, including tachycardia, heart palpitations, hyperthermia, drastic increase in blood pressure, and heart failure. I know that the drug ephederine, which was extensively used in diet preparations, has been banned by the FDA.

Cookie, I hope the antibiotics help you. I've been taking them for 2 days and am starting to feel a big difference.

Kindest regards,
Blanche

I stock Tylenol and Sudafed separately so I can choose one or the other (or both). I have not had any INR issues in small doses (3x per day) for short periods of time (2-3 days).
