Kyla

:) So, it's been ten months since my daughter's surgery and this past week end we went on our second 10+ mile bike ride. I am so amazed that she is soooo active now. I had no idea how limited she had been until I saw her after surgery activity levels. It is so fantastic to see her enjoying bike riding, walks and roller skating. Before she had to rest so much she would get discouraged and quit. Plus, in the last 10 months she has gained 17 pounds and six inches!! No one warned me that once she had the valve replacement it would send her into puberty full swing. We just enjoy the mood swings! Hope everyone here is out enoying the sunny spring weather. Take care and God Bless. ~Kristin

oh, Kristin, I know how proud you are. Isn't it wonderful to see them blossom out after they have been so ill. My congratulations to her on her accomplishment with the bike ride - and you for taking such good care of her. Tell her for us. Blessins........

Great news!

I was amazed at how much more energy and stamina I had after the VR - and was a little put out that I had to drag that ball and chain around for 49 years before being liberated from it. I'm so glad Kyla's been liberated from her defective valve at such a young age - she's got an entire lifetime ahead of her to enjoy feeling good - something everyone else just takes for granted.

Best wishes to you both-

Thats good to hear!

I am starting to understand this feeling of liberation as well -- from cursing my fate, I've almost begun to appreciate many things the fix has brought if not the condition -- guess there can be no highs without lows... ( stop me before I burst into song... )

Your joy leaps off the screen! Wonderful!

Your joy leaps off the screen! Wonderful!

I'm so happy for both of you!

It's wonderful to watch your child come back after a difficult passage. I'm glad there has been so much for you to enjoy with Kyla's return to youth and health.

Best wishes,

It is just barring any other health issues, a patient will improve activities due to not as much stress on the heart and lungs. She should be active for the most past as much as she is feeling up to. I know I feel better since also controling another health issue, diabetes, which runs in my family. I am 40 and was diagnosed with diabetes 2 years and now more active as I was when I was 20. Feel great that your daughter is so active. It is great to see poeple make marked improvement after surgery.
