I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get things moving along.. I called my cardiologists office twice this week trying to get the monitr that my cardio wanted me to have ordered and trying to get an appt. set up with him.. Do I just keep calling or what??? I am tired of waiting and want to get somewhere a little faster. Comments, and help appreciated. Erica

There are two kinds of monitors...one day or month long recording. And most hospitals only have a few of them. One needs to become available for you. So be patient. Call again and do not ask for the Dr. him/her self...instead ask for his/her nurse and express your desires.

Erica,

I have found that "stopping by" is sometimes an effective way of getting an appointment or sometimes eliminating the need for one. When I have done that I have been very courteous to the staff and let them know that I was just stopping by to check on one thing or another and not expecting to see my cardiologist at that time. One time though, one of the girls said to wait a minute and she went back to ask. He came out and the question taken care of.

This may not work work for you but I know of a few others on the board who have done this. I believe Melissa has dropped in at her cardio "while in the neighborhood".

When you call..ask to speak with your Cardio's nurse.. You will most likely get a recording. Ask them to call you back. Most will..after closing hours...or you will have to sit by your phone all day. I agree with Betty..go down there..Tell them what you want..and that you would like to speak with his/her nurse. Everyone should make best friends with their Cardio's nurse. I am so blessed. I have Ashley..who calls me right back..when I call in my INR to her every 3 weeks.....I know..if I should ever have any heart problems..she would call me right back. So far..never had too.:) :) :) :) Remember..most Cardiologist only spend 5 minutes with you..like follow-ups, ect. Nurses can answer most simple questions for you.:) :) Bonnie

Yeah, if you can show up in person, do so. It's harder for someone to dismiss you and your questions when you are standing right there in the office waiting for an answer...
