Three law firms in this area are doing TV advertizing about this drug. The ads are directed at cardiac surgery patients who experienced renal failure, stroke or death resulting from the surgery.

Annyone have more info on this drug used during heart surgery? I got some infro from PDR wonder if anyone had first hand experience.

I talked to my surgeon about Traysylol. He said it was widely used when I had my surgery in 1998 to decrease bleeding and I probably got it.I did OK post op and went home AM 4th post op day. He said not all is clear as to how bad the drug is but he quit using it as soon as he heard early reports.

Did 60 minutes do a segment on this? If so, one of our member's surgery was taped for the segment. Hopefully he will volunteer to tell us more.

The PDR incdicated that it is also used as a "pump prime". I have not been able to speak with my husband's surgeon or cardio since his death. My calls are not accepted or returned.

In fact, the surgeon did NOT speak to me in the 24 days post-op that my husband was in critical care. No luck in getting his medical record to date.

Susan, my surgeon was kind enough not only to accept my call but to talk to me about Traysylol. He obviously was unclear on just how bad it is. But I had no desire to go any farther after talking to him. Your case is a bit different. I wonder why you are getting "stonewalled". You have some recourse however. You can request all your records and then have an expert go over them. You can find out if Traysylol was used and its possible relationship to any complications your husband sustained.

Susan, I am so sorry about your husband. IMHO, I think you should contact a lawyer if not one of those lawyers that are advertising. Be sure to get all the records first.

Word from the cardio today

Word from the cardio today

Phyllis and Marty thanks you for the suggestion. I did get referrals about 10 days ago to see how to proceed.

A letter arived from the cardio today. It was addressed to my husband. The letter was to inform him that the cardio will be joining CCF on April 15 and giving the 3 CYA referrals, all at UH.

Are these people stupid, or what????? I left a VM advising as to why referral info was not needed and suggested that files be updated.
