To all my new friends on this site:

Again, many thanks for all the encouragement, prayers and advice.

We are now on, I believe week 6 since my husband's open heart surgery.

Thankfully, we are now at the boring stage of him just trying to get his strength up.

Cognitive development is good and he feels good.

When he goes for a small walk, he realizes that he is still in recovery.

It seems that the only lingering effect is right arm and pinky finger numbness.

I am hoping it's just temporary. We will see a neurologist on Monday.

Hoping you're all doing well.

All my best,
Tovah

What good news.
Thanks for updating us.... I've been thinking about you.
It's so encouraging for all of us to read how your DH had some rough days immediately post op but given time and good care, those symptoms resolved and he is doing so well.
Surely that will bring hope to others who may face the same challenge at some point.

Best Wishes your DH continues to recover well and the lingering numbness will fade.

Again, very good news. Thanks for this update. Looks like things will be getting better and better from here. When I read your original post I was pretty scared, and now I am very happy that things are looking up.

Wonderful news. This has been quite some journey, glad to see its settled down and things are looking up. Good luck at the Neuro.

Aaaahhh!

That's the news we were waiting for! The lingering involvement of the finger or arm may be just the last vestiges of irritation of the nerves from the wierd positions they force our bodies into to gain the access they need in surgery.

I'm so glad your hubby is acting more like himself. I'm sure that recovery will pick up speed and that he will do fine. It just takes time. As long as things are going in the right direction and there are no major issues, just stay the course. And do keep us posted - we're always here for you.

Tovah,
So glad to hear that your DH is still going in a good direction. I know it was quite scary for a while, but you and he are both strong and that certainly helped. Keep up the good work and give him a hug from me. Best Wishes :)
