I opened the day with the 5th annual (1st for me) Dallas Freedom 5k Run in honor of those that served and those that died on 9/11. It's a benefit for the Assist the Officer Foundation in Dallas. Special tribute was made to fallen and wounded service people in recent conflict. 2000 runners including the 5k and a 1 mile run. Red, white and blue everywhere.
It wasn't my best time ever, but not bad considering I made no special rest from from weekly routine. Rested only Friday after a hard bike ride Thursday - 25 miles. Suffered my first spill on the bicycle. Went around some walkers on a trail and hit a hole in the grass. Got some bruises and abrasions, but nothing to slow me down. (The bike's okay too - thanks for asking ) Didn't check my heart rate during the run but was down to 110 at 4 minutes and 90 at 20 minutes.
This evening, we will have a social event with our sunday school class and finish with cake and ice cream at home.
It's great to be 51. Looking forward to 51 more! Praise the Lord!
