Al, I have a question about coumadin verses other anticoagulates, my cardio say s I am very hard to take care of because my body is so senseitive to coumadin I cant help that my body is this way, is it possible to try something else that my body would be less sensetive too my mother ask me that and i said i would find out let me know

The only alternative to warfarin for someone with a mechanical heart valve is Lovenox or Fragmin in jections.

I was also told this same thing. Injections are not an easy thing to deal with. I just stayed on the coumadin but it is a pain. And I don't thing I get enough vitamin k to stay healthy over the long course of things. I need to find some way to deal with it. If my inr is the slightest bit high I can actually feel the coumadin working after I take a pill and I can actually eat a piece of lettuce or something and the feeling goes away in a few minutes. So if I miss eating just the wrong amount of vitamin k I am so sick and my level jumps way up or I can misjudge and eat too much vitamin k. It is kind of hard to explain but I have all the side effects of everything and my body is highly susceptible to coumadin.

Missy I am the same way the dr said he never such a diffcult patient as me well hello i cant help my body rejecting this stuff a few yrs ago my INR reached 100 I went into the hospital they gave me 6 pints of plasma it did help . I will stay on coumadin I love the people here you all help me so much I thank my father in heaven for all of you chris
