I have been doing some running for the first time in my life over the last month. The Aortic valve and ticker are doing just fine but my paravertebral muscles in my right SI area are balled up from running. I run about 2.5 miles and did it about 20 times last month. I tired of the pain in the rolled up ball/back muscle so I had my physician inject it with some Kenalog/Marciane mixture.
To prevent the injury from continuing to worsen I thought it would be great to get one of those pistol type massage guns, like from Theragun or the company that supplies the nba players with their massager. My question I was told by my wife and daughter may not be advisable since on warfarin and maybe deep tissue massage may cause a bleed. I keep my INR around 2.3 (Onyx valve). I don’t think it would be an issue but she thinks it will so I am putting it to the group. I think the theragun could be used preemptively to avoid injury.

well firstly I would say that if you weren't a runner before then I don't think now's a good time to start (you've essentially had zero build-up of muscles and joints from when you were younger.

just my opinion.

However

warfarin does not cause a bleed ... it only slows down coagulation meaning a bruise will be bigger.

I'm building a steel shed in the backyard, I am working with steel and power tools. There are sharp edges everwhere and I'm bending over all the tiem I mixed the concrete by hand in a barrow. I regularly hit my shoulders shoulders and lower back with my massage gun in the evenings

unless the massage gun is like a paint ball gun or hits like a boxer I really don't see what the issue is.

Even hard core deep tissue massage from my masseuse lady (with iron hands) never bruises me (even though I can barely get off the table when she's had me for an hour).

If you weren't an easy bruiser before you probably aren't now ...

Now, back to that steel frame

I bought an Infinity PR Pro deep tissue percussion massager from Costo about 5 months ago and am very happy with it. They can get really expensive but this model was very reasonable, like maybe $150 or $ 160. I believe it is the same model as linked below. I have had a lot of massagers over the years and this is probably my favorite. These percussion guns can get very expensive, but I find that the model that I have works great. I really like that it is rechargable and holds the charge for several hours of use.

Like you, I am on warfarin and target 2.5 INR. No issues whatsoever in using the percussion gun.
