Spring is here; time for the Spring/Summer Thread!

It has been (and, in some ways, continues to be) a LONG, cold, snowy winter, for some of us.... BUT, with spring arriving, I'm looking forward to...

... softball/baseball (Dad's Friday night Elgin city league team; bro-in-law's Tuesday night Elgin city league team).

... warmer temps and SUNSHINE!

... getting my older 4 Monte Carlos out (hopefully earlier than I did last year).

... gatherings, reunions, car cruises and shows.

... traveling/road trips, though not as much as I'd like (including Pennsylvania, June 27-29; Indiana / Ohio / Pennsylvania / New Jersey /Maryland / Arlington VA, August 8-12; central-southern IL / St Louis MO, October 3-5). And, yes, one of these years I WILL get to Boston/NY AND to CA via MN, etc, etc, etc....

... finding a winter beater ('77-'79 Caprice; '89-'90 Caprice 9C1; Monte Carlo?; something else?) for next winter ... and MAYBE adding a Monte Carlo SS to my MC family (though, I wouldn't mind a 1975 Caprice Classic convertible, either)!

What are YOU looking forward to this spring/summer?

Dropping the top back and taking a long ride up the western coast in my cute BMW Z3 Roadster - the feel of the wind in my hair has got to improve my mood and attitude!

I'm also looking forward to digging in the dirt (very theraputic for me), planting flowers, and watching the efforts of my work bloom all spring, summer, and fall.

Last but not least, taking my 2 little grandsons to the zoo to see the baby animals!

Looking forward to spring! Traveling to Texas to meet with GF's! Summer break. Spending time with my daughter, swimming, relaxing in the sun, reading, gardening. Time with twin nieces. Traveling to France and Italy. Door County, WI. If I have time, work. In that order:D

Spring? Those of us near the Texas Gulf Coast go straight from cold rainy winter to hot sweltering summer, sometimes on alternating days! I was in shorts on Sunday for the record highs (near 90) and on Monday a huge storm blew in a cold front and the temps dropped about 40-50 degrees. Monday morning the wind was blowing at 40 mph, making it difficult to keep my car on the road. Katy used to be all rice fields, so we have very few natural trees to block the wind.

Actually, the live oak tree in the front yard is losing its dormant leaves and getting its new ones, which leaves yellow stuff on my black car, but still means warm weather is here. I also had my first Hibiscus bloom yesterday. The crepe myrtle is getting its leaves. The daylily blooms can't be far behind. A few days ago I saw the geese heading back to Canada after their Mexican winter vacation. I'm looking forward to taking a summer vacation. We are thinking Cozumel.

Changes in any season seem to give me a boost of energy whether it is the first flowers popping up or the first cool snap....they both put spring in my step....Speakng of spring.... ...sundresses, short shorts, halter tops.......I am male....hear me oink:D :p ...........Women, the greatest of God's creation:)

Opening the pool and laying on a lounge chair in the hot sun so my poor old bones can soak up some sun and I can move better.

The grandkids from Tn. coming out for a week and me spoiling the three of them as much as possible in 8 days.

My girls(old womens) trip to Vegas the the first week of June.

I'm looking forward to cleaning up the yard, planting some annuals, sitting on the patio in the sun, and in the evenings, waiting for the lightning bugs to make their appearance.

Looking forward to: Coffee on the back porch while watching the water lilies open in the morning sun, and wearing shorts and a t-shirt for dog training, instead of down jacket and ski pants.

My clematis have all been cut back and are climbing the trellis again and setting buds, the tulips are poking their heads up but not yet blooming, the red oaks are fixing to drop pollen everywhere, but our crepe myrtles are still nekkid. I haven't yet put in the summer annuals, but may do that next weekend. The pansies are still rioting color on the back of the water garden. Oh, and up here near Dallas we got 5 inches of rain from that little "cold front" that hit down in Katy! Way too wet for gardening just now.

warmth. this has been a really weird cold/wet winter for us. And wishing for NO hurricanes!!!

Ah, yes, the start of hurricane season.

But, uh, Ann, your cold/wet winter is FAR different than what we have up here, my dear. He he. Funny how perspectives are, isn't it? ;)

*sighs*

Speaking of cold/wet ... dangumit ... the joke is on those of us in Chicagoland. A day after Spring starts, we have a winter storm warning ... 5-7 inches (or so) of snow by Friday evening. Wonderful.

*rolls eyes*

Thursday was absolutely GORGEOUS ... sunshine and upper 40s/lower 50s. Friday will be ... ugh.

*pauses*

Spring IS here ... right?
