For part of last week on our "vacation" I turned a weed laden nook in the corner of my son and DIL's fenced-in yard of their new house into a Secret Garden for my Avatar. The place we are sitting in couldn't even be walked through. I went back in there (which the mosquitos loved) and saw that some sapling trees had sprung up and that a tree at the beginning of the nook created a nice archway. So I ripped and dug and clipped and chainsawed away and
20 bags of mulch, 10 yards of weed barrier, 1 butterfly bush, 5 various perenials, 2 miniature lilac bushes, 2 wind chimes and 3 garden creature statues later Avery has her Secret Garden. Her great grandma has a wrought iron children's table and chairs she's giving her to put back there.
My daughter's response when she saw the pictures was "You never did anything like that for us." I told her she'd have to wait until she had a grandchild for me!!
