The Merger Experience ... Round 2!!

Irony rocks .

For the 2nd year in a row, the company I work for has been sold & is in "merger mode". This time though, it isn't the whole company ... just a few departments, including the one of which I am a part. In last year's merger acquisition, I was one of the ones let go during the "mass exodus". This time, at least right now, I've no idea what this will mean for me. The company that bought the departments is headquartered in Birmingham AL ... and, from what I've heard, the acquisition doubles that company's size.

*rolls eyes*

Course, this means the road trips & events may be cut back even more than I already had cut 'em back ... and ... "networking" is even more important.

As I noted last year, "this too shall pass".

I am very sorry that your having so much trouble with the job scene this year. It's not good here in NH either though, as our local KMart was just severely hit with layoff's that took out 1/2 of the management staff and 1/2 of the regular workers...all of of which have been with the company 12 years or better....I think that this store is going to close as it's just not doing well....anyway, just wanted to lend some support and say that I hope you get through this latest bump in the road....Harrybaby

Danny ... I wouldn't mind moving to Birmingham ... have quite a few friends in and around that Alabama city ... yet, well, who knows. I know I don't want to go down there if I'm stuck in the call center job....

Thank you, Sherry. I don't think the sale has really sunk in yet ... partially because we haven't received any news yet on how this will affect us. I canNOT believe that the "powers that be" don't know how they're going to handle this. After all, when you buy something, you generally know what you're going to do with it ... I can't imagine that a company would buy departments that literally double its size withOUT knowing how they're going to handle everything.... ya know?
