Hey all,

Looks like I got a surgery date, after all. :)

I will head out to Cleveland on the 13th in preparation for surgery on August 18th.

I am SOOOOOOOOOO happy!! :D :D :D Who would have thought getting a date for open heart surgery could be so joyous!

Thanks for all of your support so far!

Melissa

CONGRATULATIONS, MELISSA!!!

I'm so glad you've gotten through that worry. It's amazing how much more settled you feel knowing you're going to be fixed up, isn't it. I truly think the worst part of this entire surgery is the waiting!! I know how relieved I felt when Tyce was given his date....scared, but DEFINITELY relieved.

We will be with you all the way, girlfriend.

Evelyn

An auspicious date...

An auspicious date...

Take a look at the calendar; that happens to be my birthday. I'll be thinking of you, Melissa. See you on the other side...

Cheers,

Will

Great news Melissa,
You leave the waiting-room as I am entering it so I have not the chance to chat and get to know you, but I am happy that getting a date with a surgeon is making you joyful even if it appears strange to people who are not "vr.commers". Hopefully you had enough time to prepare. Be sure that lots of positive energy and prayers will be coming your way from your Northern neighbour. You are not alone, (repeat three hundreds time).

Hey Melissa,
Glad to hear you are ready. Just think you will soon be on the other side of the mountain and getting better each day. You will be in our prayers and thoughts. Take Care and Keep Up the Great Attitude.
Dave

Keep your fires small!

You'll be within 65 miles of me and I won't be able to come and see you.

Perhaps I can at least sneak a phone call in to you? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Congratulations on the date-Now you can officially go really crazy! What do you think made me such a looney toon? :D

Congrats, Melissa! Having the surgery date set is certainly a relief....but, as others have said, that waiting sometimes gets to ya a bit much anyway.....

As for Cleveland, you'll be there a bit too late for me to visit...I'm planning a road trip to PA for our family reunion Aug 9 (will post more details soon)...but will be going through OH before the reunion...and down through VA, TN afterward.... Otherwise, I woulda made a side-trip to stop in and see ya.....

Peace...always,

Hi Melissa!

Welcome to the "hurry up and wait" stage of the game. I'm sure you will do just great when your day arrives. Until then, keep your chin up and a smile on your face. You are going to feel so much better when this is all said and done!:)

Take Care!

Julia:)

Whoopee! Thanks everyone for sharing in my moment. :D

I will be in Cleveland until they let me out, and then a seven hour drive to Lancaster, PA, for some good home cooking and a little TLC until I can make it back to Boulder, Colorado in 8-12 weeks or so. I'll make sure there is some way for my VR.com family to keep in touch.

*scurry, scurry* busy making plans. . . :)

Melissa

Hey, Melissa, as a fellow Coloradan you'll appreciate this. I am 3 1/2 months post-op and last weekend I did my first mountain hike. I did the Crag Crest Trail on the Grand Mesa. Seven miles with a climb from about 10,000 to 12,000 feet. It was SO MUCH EASIER than last year because I had oxygen in my brain this time! Soon you'll be doing the same around Nederland or Ward or wherever you go for hikes. And keep up the good attitude - it makes a tremendous difference.

Hi Melissa - Glad you got your date kiddo. Sounds like you are all prepared and mentally up to the task ahead. Keep us advised and you know you will have a huge crowd of people with you all the way. Chris

Hey Melissa-
Glad you finally got everything worked out.
Just had my Mitral repaired in Feb. and so
far everything is fine.
Will be thinking of you and hoping for the best
on the 18th.
Good Luck!

Soo. . .now that I have a SURGERY date, maybe I'll finally have energy for a REAL date when I get out?

"Hi, I'm heading toward open heart surgery. . ." hasn't been the most effective in keeping potential dates around. . . :D

So much to look forward to!

Melissa

Another case of people that just don't get it. I truly feel that we are a class of our own. People have preconceived notions about us, Doctors aren't on the same page in our treatment, what's next?

Melissa-

I think if someone was scared off by your medical problems, then good riddance. It's something that makes you who you are and it's a fact of your life. I realize that you wouldn't want to spring it on someone on the first date, but then, why not? I hope you find someone who appreciates what you are and what you have gone through.

No one gets out of this life without some problems, and it might be nice to find out just how much character your date has.

No one can expect perfection from someone else unless they themselves are perfect. And there is no one on this planet that is.

Be yourself, enjoy your life. You are a beautiful, talented and fun-loving gal. Mr. Right will love you for it.
