Has anyone here had a Coil Procedure done?
It's something new to me. My friend of 20+ years is going to have this done at Cleveland on the 31st. If it doesn't help him, he'll be looking at a Heart Transplant.

I've heard of it, but I'm not very familiar with it. Can't really remember at the moment what it even is, though I know I've read about it at some point. Good luck to your friend. Hope everything turns out well.

From what I understand, they place these coils in arteries or veins to block them off. My friend has new vessels trying to join in places that they shouldn't, causing problems. He's had serious heart problems since birth and his plumbing is not like that of anyone I've encountered before.

I was just curious to see if anyone here has had it done and was it sucessful.

Your friend (or you) might try talking to some people you can find on a mailing list support group at ACHD Support or on a message board at ACHA

Both of these sites are for adults with congenital heart defects. YOU may have never heard of your friends anatomy, but I assure you, someone on one of these sites probably has similar problems. And I'm sure that is probably where I heard about the coil procedure, and someone there might be able to shed some light on it.

Have you looked at my long list of defects??? I'm betting you've never met anyone like me either. ;) I can explain in more detail if you want...
