OK, this is sort of tangentially related to valves - but it is about hearts.
This article claims that a recipient of a heart transplant suddenly developed new art skills after the op - and the donor was a keen artist. The theory is that memories are somehow passed on along with the heart:

Reality check... the Daily Mail, whilst not being as cavalier with the facts as some of our tabloids (and not in the same league as your National Enquirer), tends to inhabit the rather more sensational end of the news spectrum;)

I dunno. Sounds kind of right to me. Twice since my valve was put in, my wife has caught me rooting in the mud.

And, wow! - that sow down the road..!

Best wishes,

lol...Bob...

good to see us Aussies arent the only ones with a weird sense of humour!

On a more serious note Clicker...
I have heard this many-times and am beginning to believe it

Hi Ton - yes, I'd also heard this before. A friend is a retired cardiologist and he's pretty convinced there's something in it. I'd say there's a lot we still have to learn about the subtleties of our bodies.

LOL...I wonder what you turn into then when you have one of these mechanical valves implanted then...do we have character-changes too and dream of being a Ferrari engine and go-faster! or what!?...LOL:D

This is amazing, just the other day I got a splinter in my finger and was overwhelmed by the desire to lay on the ground in the woods.

Apparently "cellular Memory" is able to cross all barriers.

LOL, thanks for the good laugh!
I especially enjoyed the comment from TobagoTwo!

I must have received valves meant for the airline industry.

I used to be a helicopter when I had my single disc valve. Now, with my 2-disc St. Jude, I am a twin engined Cessna. I love the speed I have right now but I used to be able to climb better.;) ;) :D :D

I read a book a while back called "Change of Heart" that addresses this very issue. I think it's supposed to be based on a true story. I would double check but my old age mind can't remember where I put it. Maybe I need a new brain valve.:D

THAT'S WHY NATHAN'S HAS SPENT THIS WINTER SNOWMOBINING, HIS VALVE MADE HIM DO IT!!!

Nathan's Dad is a 15 year heart transplant recipiant. He was fortyish when he had transplant, and I believe the donor was in his late twenties or thirties. He has been in touch with the donor's parents many times over the years, but no new claims to fame, fortune or talents :) I will have to ask him about this though.

Geebee,

Geebee,

You are costing me money!!!:D :D I am a sucker for good books. I went to Amazon and ordered " Change of Heart". It sounds like a really good book.

Now we know....

Now we know....

So that's why we lose a little bit of memory when they take out the old valve. :p
