I wanted to write a quick note of thanksgiving for this website. :) This website was the best thing that happened to me when I found out I was having surgery. I can't thank you all enough for the advice and support you gave me and everyone else.

I'm a little over six months post-op from my OHS to repair my mitral valve, and four monts post-op from my pericardial window surgery. After that 2nd surgery, my recovery went a lot better. I FINALLY feel like a human being and not a heart patient. The only things that remind me are the Toprol XL I take every night (darn heart still races without it), the scars on my chest, and having to take antibiotics when I went to the dentist last week. But compared to how I felt before, I feel like a whole new person! This time last year I was still trying to get used to the PICC line in my arm and the four hours of antibiotics each day for treatment of endocarditis. It seems like sooo long ago! It's so amazing how much better you feel when your heart is working correctly! :)

My family isn't celebrating Thanksgiving until Sunday, so I have a few more days to think about things I am thankful for. I hope the rest of you Americans had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Happy Holidays!

Liza
