Hi all. I found out that I was going to need surgery for my ascending aortic aneurysm on May 15th 2010 and started to search for info about the procedure.
Luckily I found this site and the personal stories were extremely important for my peace of mind.
I had my surgery on June 28th and with the skills of a great surgeon sailed through the op. I was in the ICU overnight and then discharged on the fifth day. My valve didn't need replacement(yet).
Once I got home I was glued to the VR site as my body adjusted to recovery.
Every weird sensation ( from the odd little extra breath , feeling my heartbeat in my throat and the always enjoyable hard heartbeat) I felt over the next few weeks was something one of you had had and just knowing that these sensations were normal was extremely important to me.
It's now 3 months post op and I am finally feeling a bit more like myself.
So thank you all for sharing your experiences. It really is important for all of us who have faced this trying time.
