Sweetie. This is what we are all trying to help you recognize. Your doctor isn't showing your daughter the depth of respect she has earned by being handed a somewhat scary (to her) diagnosis. We do not like your doctor!
Where did your daughter get her echo? Much like automobiles, there are many varieties and levels of quality of the machine. If she was at a top notch hospital with a new color/doppler machine, that would be very good. If he wheeled in an old one on a cart, well, she may not have had the most complete diagnosis.
What symptoms is she listing?
Certainly, there is no emergency. You just want to educate yourself and your daughter so that she may lead a healthy life without worry. You want her seen by a specialist....that shouldn't EVER be a problem to any doctor.
At the very least, have him mail you his report and the echo findings. Just call his office, ask for the Records Department (if it is a larger group of doctors) and tell them you want a copy mailed to your home. You may be sent a release form, first. They have to be willing to give you that information. Maybe if you share some of the statistics with us here, you will feel more comfortable going past your doctor to a specialist.
Keep us posted.
