My husband is progressing. Walking and breathing are getting easier as he loses some of the accumulated fluid. As the caregiver, no one told me how much work was involved in caring for a postop heart valve surgery patient, but maybe it is just my husband. Those Tet hose have about done me in though. His appetite is getting better.

He has had a lot of trouble with postnasal drip or tickling in the back of his throat. It makes him cough, especially when talking, and this hurts.

All in all, he is doing very well.

Allergies? Might ask the doctor for some Flonase or similiar.

As long as he's up and walking there really isn't a need for the Tet hose. If he's just laying around, that's a different story. Are they actually Tet or are they those hair pulling Jobst stockings? I have some Jobst's and I'm telling you, it takes all the Kings horses and all the Kings men to put those darn things on.

Happy to hear your husband is coming along well but sorry to hear he has needed lots of care.
We are all different and heal at different rates. I am so grateful I was so fortunate to have been able to be alone in the house both my surgeries just a few days after I came home. My husband had to return to his office so someone else came in to be with me but after a few days, I sent them home. I was grateful for their offer of help but really was well enough to be independent during the day. Other folks have needed lots of assistance for weeks. Sometimes there is no way to account for why one has a harder time than others. I count my blessings.

Hopefully each day will be better and better for him and he soon will be back to many of us usual activities.
Remember to take care of yourself in this process. It won't do either of you any good if you become ill from doing too much.
All best wishes.
