Just thought I would ask if anyone who has had AVR (I'm 7 weeks out) gets a mild temperature in the afternoon. I have been on anti-biotics for 2 weeks but still have 99.0 to 99.7 temp. every afternoon around 2:30P.M. till 8:00 or 9:00P.M.
Perhaps it is just part of the "healing" process.
I feel fine otherwise, betterin the mornings, than afternoons.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

To my understanding..... this is not part of the regular recovery process as far out as you are. I had a low grade fever for a few days after surgery that diminished. My surgeon was very concerned that there might have been infection. Nothing showed up.

Did they happen to run blood cultures or an echo? Would mention this to your surgeon if you have not already. Keep us posted.

The hospital drug stuff causes temps but not this long and should have been gone before you left the hospital. It's not much of a temp, but it IS a temp above normal and apparently is constant. Does it fluctuate? Like, is it gone in the morning and come back after lunch? If so there's an infection or something going on. As Gina says, call your doctor's office - like Monday. ok?

Check with the Doctor first thing Monday morning. He probably won't be concerned. Mine told me that a fluctuation is alright but if it were to climb to 100 or above, he want's to be notified immediately.

99.7 is close enough for me to get a little concerned.

I had a low grade temp off and on for about 8 weeks after AVR, docs never seemed to concerned

I'm happy and home!

Me too. I have been running a low grade fever too. It had to be reported if over 101.5. Last night they had to go through three themometers to get it right. The first one rang the bell at 102, then the next one at l0l.5 and the next one at 101.3. They decided to take the last one.....all three were within the space of less than 10 minutes.

I was told that sometimes just the inflammation process itself sets off a temp. increase and has nothing to do with infection.

I have alot to report but I think I'll wait until later. Do we have more news on Lettitia? I've read the updates on Gisele. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong area and will find it later.

Thank you all for your prayers and warm wishes.
