T minus 2 weeks and counting

Dear Friends,
Just wanted to let you know my surgery is scheduled for May 9th - 2 weeks today. I have only made a couple of posts so far, but I have been reading all of the posts regarding what to expect for my wife and I. Thank you for all of your sharing your insight and experience.

I have been very fortunate as I have only had to wait about 5 weeks for the surgery, I can’t imagine waiting 6 months or more as some of you have had to do. This web site has been a Godsend and we cannot thank all of you enough for helping us get educated on OHS.

My wife is going to bring her laptop to the hospital in hopes she can let you all know how I am doing. I hear the hospital I am going to doesn’t have Internet connections, but one way or the other, we will let you know what is happening.

If you still have 56K capability, then just use the phone cable from the handset in your room. That's what I did.

And depending on the IP -- at least this is what some used to do -- they would offer a temporary 56K option for those having high speed. Not sure what is still offered today. The link I used in the hospital was a secure link back to my work, after which I could get out onto the web.

Good luck, and God Bless on your up and comming surgry. I like you only had to wait a few weeks on my surgry, that in its self helps the process. To give you hope on recovery I'm 12 days out and fill great! I'm already walking 10-15 min. a day. I'll be in prayer for you on your surgry and recovery. If I can help in anyway just let me know.

Glad we got you on the calendar, Doug. Please invite your wife to join in here anytime even before the surgery should she have any questions or concerns. There are lots of significant others who have experiences to share.
