Hi everyone,
A silly question... Has anyone ever heard of being able to feel tonsils through the neck(like you feel swollen glands)??
I hadnt but apparently thats what Chloe has. I took her to the doctor earlier for a sore throat and what I thought was quite a large swollen gland on one side of her neck but he said he 'thinks' its a 'very angry looking' tonsil that goes with her throat infection! She's not ill at all with it - just got this icky looking lumpy bit on her neck and where her neck is very thin its quite obvious too. Has anyone else come across this? Even my nurse best friend hadnt!

Not worried at all I'd like to add - just curious,
Love Emma

Nope, me neither.........

Nope, me neither.........

Glands, yes! Tonsils themselves, no! Well, I sure hope that this doesn't develop into anything. Much love. Janet

I have felt my glands but not my tonsils. I can tell you this though, right now my tonsil is huge, it almost touches the little thing hanging down in the back of your throat (I dont know what it is called). The doctor says that it will take about 3-6 months for it to go down or I will have to get it removed, and that will be a long process with a Mech. valve.

My youngest son had trouble like that throughout childhood. They never did take his tonsils out and he still has a flare up now and then, but for the most part, it's subsided altogether. There were times I thought it was going to cut off his air supply they got so huge.

Hello!

I do not mean to be an alarmist, but does this lump pulsate?

I recently ran into someone in the hospital, who said he thought he had a badly swollen gland, and it turned out to be an anuerism in his neck vein/artery.

My tonsils are swollen almost all the time. I have a very long history of strep throat and tonsilitis. I got them so often when I was a kid my mom could just call the doctor and he would call in a prescription. I seem to get fewer flare ups now that I am an adult. This winter, however has been the worst one for my throat in quite a while.

Best of luck with those tonsils! They can certainly be a pain! (no pun intended):p
