Hi

Recently my sternum has become swollen at the top. Probably the manubrium.

I had thought that it was likely to be the wires

My regular doctor (called a GP here) seems to have no clue, and my surgeon was on holidays till this week. He doesn't think it is the wires, and has not offered any suggestions. I wonder if it an infection which has lain dormant for some time.

I am now booked in to have an examination or three in a hospital.

It has been nearly a year since my surgery, so this seems a little like a late run.

Will let you know what they find

Yes very interesting. I had infection at about week 3 when the bump got red and swollen. But a year out?

Let us know what doc says.

Wow, that looks a bit bumpy. Is it soft or hard? Any pain? Please do keep us posted and good luck, I hope its just some fluid from wire irritation and they can just suck it out and clean it up.

I have a bump at the start of my incision. I just had my surgery last week. My fiance noticed the bump when he was looking at my incision and I asked the nurse and she had told me that it was okay, it was normal. The bump for me has gone down some. I don't know if it would be a year out. Hope its nothing serious!
