Susan Allen

Hi, I'm Maridith, Susan's oldest daughter.
My mom asked me to post a note letting all know that her surgery today, 10/23/03, went well. Her doctor performed the Ross Procedure to replace her aortic artery, taking about 3 hours, as scheduled and she is on her way to recovery.

In the short time our family got to speak with her, as she was very exhausted and under heavy medication, she expressed nothing but relief. A big fear of hers, waking up on the ventillator, was overcome as she told us it was "not nearly as bad as she had imagined it to be." The ventillator was removed approximately 4 hours after the procedure.

We expect her to remain in the hospital for several days, but are hoping to have her well enough to come home as soon as possible. I'm sure my mom will be anxious to talk with you all very soon. Thank you all for your support!

Thanks so much Maradith,

That sounds like good news. I know your mom is glad she is now on this side of the mountain. Make sure you get some rest too as this is hard on the whole family.

Tell your mom we are still praying for her and are looking forward to her posting later.

Maradith, please keep us updated if you don't mind. It is really important to us. Thanks again.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOO, thank you Maridith. She now has the experience to go behind everything we told her and now she's more then qualified to help others facing surgery.

Please keep us posted as you can. Glad all is well at this stage.

Thanks for the update, Maradith....always glad to hear positive news about one of our own!:)
I'm sure you are also relieved that this big event has come and gone so smoothly....this whole thing can be very hard on the whole family, too!
Sending my best to your mom and looking forward to hearing from her personally when she is able to do so!:)

Hi Maridith-

Thanks for letting us know. It's wonderful to hear that things are AOK. Congratulations, Susan, recovery is where it's at now.

Hey Maridith,
Thank you for keeping us posted. Sounds like your mom is doing fine and she is now on the road to recovery. Tell her we are all thinking about her and you all are in our prayers.
Take Care

Thanks, Maridith. I know you have better things to do than to post information for us, with your mom in the hospital and all; but you just don't know how relieved we are to get such posts.

Thanks so much, and let your mom know that we're delighted all went well.

Meredith - Thanks for the info on your mom. Please let her know that we are pleased that everything is going well. It is uphill from now on and she will feel better and better.
