Susan Allen
Hi, I'm Maridith, Susan's oldest daughter.
My mom asked me to post a note letting all know that her surgery today, 10/23/03, went well. Her doctor performed the Ross Procedure to replace her aortic artery, taking about 3 hours, as scheduled and she is on her way to recovery.
In the short time our family got to speak with her, as she was very exhausted and under heavy medication, she expressed nothing but relief. A big fear of hers, waking up on the ventillator, was overcome as she told us it was "not nearly as bad as she had imagined it to be." The ventillator was removed approximately 4 hours after the procedure.
We expect her to remain in the hospital for several days, but are hoping to have her well enough to come home as soon as possible. I'm sure my mom will be anxious to talk with you all very soon. Thank you all for your support!
