My surgery date is confirmed at Brigham and Womens Hospital on August 6th. Dr Prem Sekhar will be operating on me. I hope everything goes well. I am sometimes calm and sometimes worried.

After reading through all the posts, I gain strength.

I'm sure all will go well.:) I put the date on the calendar, so you'll have plenty of support going into this.:)

Good luck to you. My surgery is this Tuesday to replace my bicuspid aortic valve. I've had 4 years to think about this day. I'm looking forward to getting over it. We will both be fine.

I had my surgery for valve sparing aortic root replacement end of May. I'm only in my mid 30's but I would have to say by week three I was doing surprisingly very well, like I wanted to go out for dinner and meet people out kind of well. I had read on-line that the hospital you are going to is one of the best. Trust me when we say that waiting is the worst part. Once you are home your recovery is going to accelerate just because you will be moving around a lot more. Moving is definitely the best medicine. Don't forget to do your incentive spirometry breathing exercises (more the better) to help clear out your lungs. It took me about 1-1/2 weeks to drop the weight you gain from being on the bypass machine but it drops quickly. Listen to your body and your recovery will go very well. There will be a lot of people keeping an eye on you even after you go home so that will ease some of those fears. Good luck. Soon you will be back telling us how you are back home recoverying well.

I am very thankful that the site is back up.
John,

My prayers will be there for you for faster recovery without any complications.

Kris,

I am in my early 30's. I hope and pray my surgery to go well without any complications.
