I put you on the surgical calendar.
You're having replacement at a great facility, so I'm sure you will do well.

Read, I'm sure you will do great and we look forward to helping you over the "mountain" to a complete and uneventful recovery.

Hi Read....glad you are scheduled...the waiting is the hardest part....How I felt when I woke up....groggy and disoriented from the drugs:cool:...but all kidding aside, it is not near as bad as you have probably imagined....it's not a cake walk but it's not as bad as you might think.....I hope I never have to have OHS again but if I do I will have no fear of the recovery process....I am sure all will be fine.

Waking up with an ON-X

Waking up with an ON-X

Hi,
I received an ON-X valve as well as a new ascending aorta last September. I felt pretty good when I woke up from surgery - much better than I expected! I had "the tube" still in but thanks to this site I knew to just go with the flow and let it breathe for me. It wasn't bad at all.

I'm 8+ months post surgery and most days I feel pretty darn good. I still have a day now and then that reminds me that my body has been through some major stuff the last year - it does take time to get back to 100%.

I can hear my little valve quietly ticking away...it has become a comforting sound.

Good luck on your surgery - it will be over before you know it and you'll be on the road to recovery!
