Surgery set for 06/10

My mitral valve repair/replacement is set for 06/10/09.
It was 06/02/09. I got as far as being in the bed with a IV.
Now I will tell you what they should have told me but did not.
This only concerns females. They will not do your sugery if
you have started your period. They are giving you blood thinners
and it is dangerous if you are bleeding. You would think they would
tell you something about that before hand. Needless to say I
was not happy. I really don't think the doctors or nurses realize
how much we have to gear up to be able to go thru this.
So here I go again trying to get ready for it. They say that there is
reason for everything.

I was only on the second day of my period and they performed the surgery with no complications.

I had just started(spotting) and they still refused to due the surgery.
Belive me I argued with them.

Geez, I've never heard such a thing! I'll definitely keep in mind for the future...yes, they should have told you that!
