I have been on this web site continuously for the last couple of months learning everything I can. It has been invaluable. My husband, DJ, is finally scheduled for surgery on Monday, August 28th at 7:30 am in Indianapolis. This waiting has been horrible. He has chosen the Ross Procedure, with a Medtronics Freestyle Porcine as his backup plan. His surgeon, Dr. John Brown, thinks he is an excellent candidate for the Ross, so we are placing that decision in his hands once he gets into surgery. Thanks to all of you for sharing your views, your stories, your fears and your successes. We feel much more educated since finding this site, and therefore much more at ease as surgery approaches. If you wouldn't mind adding DJ to your prayer list for next week, we would appreciate all the good vibes we can get. God Bless.

BAV, aortic valve in moderate to severe category
Aneurysm of the ascending aorta, 5.2 cm

I will be praying for a wonderfully successful Ross for DJ. And I pray that you both feel a sense of assurance and peace as the day approaches.

Please let us know how he's doing after the surgery.

Teri,
I'm glad the website has been helpful to you. I have put DJ on the calendar for Monday and am sending you our best wishes for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery. Be sure to let us know how he is doing when you get a chance.

Good luck to you both on Monday....will be holding DJ in my thoughts...

Prayers

Prayers going your way. i hope all goes well and please keep us informed as to DJ's progress. I have written quite a bit about the things that have been a source of encouragement for me through this process. If you have time check it out at:

web.mac.com/standthetest

That takes you to the welcome page but the blog page is where I have been writing about my ups and downs and the support of friends, family and God. Not necessarily in that order.

Thanks to Randy and to everyone for your support and prayers. And Randy, thanks for sharing your blog...I had tears in my eyes reading it. I will share it with my husband. I'm curious to know why they did not proceed with the Ross for you. I'm assuming the conditions were not "perfect", but I wondered if it was because of your aneurysm or the condition of the pulmonary valve. If you get a chance, please let me know. Thanks, Teri

I'm a little late to the party, but good luck and prayers out to the both of you. Please do post or have someone post on your behalf to let us know how things went. By now, you know we worry like expectant parents around here. ;)

Teri,

Prayers coming your way. I am sure all will go well for JD. The waiting is almost over and it does stink. I was so glad to be on the other side.

Best Wishes,

Tom

Many prayers heading your way for Hubby. he will be fine. Enjoy the weekend..Family, friends, ect... He will just need to take it easy when he returns home.....Walk, nap. ect. Not too much company......Like ross said, please let us know when he is out of surgery. Bonnie

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I think the waiting is very difficult and since the wait is over your through one more hurdle! God Bless:)

Hold on just a little longer, and you will be through this awful waiting period.

You can rely on fellow members to keep both you and DJ in our thoughts and prayers not only Monday, but everyday, until he has successfully completed his journey up and over the mountain.

God Bless and Godspeed.
Mary

Teri & DJ:

Yeah, the waiting is a bummer. I remember it all too well!

Just fast-forward your mind to 1 week from now, when the surgery will be over & (hopefully) DJ will be home and ready to begin recuperating.

I will keep you in my prayers for a very speedy, successful surgery & equally speedy (& borning) recovery.

The waiting is tough, but come Monday morning you will hand it over to the one who has been watching over you all these years and you will be pleasantly surprised how you will manage the morning. God is watching you!
Take care and please keep us posted.

Best thoughts and prayers are winging your way - I hope you guys are having a good weekend and treating DJ to all the good eats and drinks he can handle.
