A study just published in the journal Evidence Based Dentistry finds that stopping warfarin for routine dental procedures puts a person at about twice the risk for stroke that continuing warfarin does for major bleeding.

Do you have a citation for the article? From time to time my dentist lets me use his password to get articles where he has a membership. Appreciate your assistance with this and for the invaluable information you continue to provide for all of us.

Blanche, If you can find this article, I'd like to read the entire thing, all I could find was an abstract.

I shall pervail on my dentist on this one. He has been helping me and my family for the past 30 years, so we have a solid relationship. If he can't help, I do have a friend at Arizona State Univ who might help. I, too, want this article badly. Will let you know.
Regards, and thanks for all the help you have given me and mine over the last four years,
Blanche

I have a dental appointment on Monday, at which time I will speak with my dentist about the article. I find that people have a hard time saying "no" to me face-to-face. Probably because I am so dang adorable in person...he he.

Wisdom Tooth removal...

Al, does this apply to teeth extraction as well? I am having a couple of wisdom teeth removed (not impacted) and don't want to stop my coumadin. Thanks!
