stress echo test scheduled

Hi guys and gals,
I have a stress echo scheduled March 18. I am wanting to understand exactly what they will be looking for.

Also, 2 1/2 yrs ago I had a stress echo. After the test, the cardio (not mine) said heart function looked good and sent me home.
I was feeling pretty breathless and coughing, I needed to pick up the kids from school so I headed straight home. (45 minute drive).
I almost had a wreck, it was awful. I was coughing terribly the whole drive home and felt very lightheaded. This time I plan on sitting at the dr office until all symptoms subside before getting behind the wheel. Actually I will have someone else drive.

Have any of you had a similiar reaction to the stress echo?

During the stress echo they will monitor your heart rythyms, BP, pulse rate, etc. Immediately afterward, they will do an echocardiogram to measure the size of your valve openings, etc.

Tell your cardiologist about your previous reaction, and don't leave his office until your pulse, BP and EKG show normal.

I am concerned that there is something else going on besides the aortic valve issues. I am assuming that you did not have the same reaction since you didn't mention it.

Why don't you call ahead of time and get a copy of your last stress echo results and request a copy of this one too.

Do make sure your cardiologist knows what happened last time. It sounds wise to bring a driver with you.

I never had a stress echo but I think I should have had. Let us know how it goes, alright?

My hubby had a stress echo 4 months ago..they sent him right up for a cath. of heart.....You may want to be prepared for that. unless there is no Cardio on call to do one..Our's was a small heart center in our town 30 miles from here... They may schedule you for one...hope not..Hope you pass again...Bonnie
