Can stress cause a persons INR to drop?
Last week I was 3.2, this week 1.9! Same dosage 7.5 same amount of vitamin k, actually a little less I think.
The only thing different is the stress level and last week was HOT HUMID and sunny.

Thanks,

Well . . .

Well . . .

if Rain's dog being in the garden can cause the inr to screw up, I'm sure stress can, too.

It's just bizarre!

Yes stress can affect it. Whether it goes up or down is the question, but stress definately plays a role.

I haven't any study on this, but I think whether your INR goes up or down in relation to stress seems to be related to the effect stress has on eating.

I'm only referring to INRs greater than 8.0 in this. I RARELY see anyone who is hospitalized for bleeding with an INR lower than this. So I'm not referring to and INR lower than 8.0.

It seems to me that people who weigh more than their ideal body weight react to stress by eating more. Therefore, their INRs go down during times of stress.

Conversely, small people react to stress by losing their appetite. Eating less causes the INR to increase.

I rarely see a large person who has an INR greater than 8.0. It seems to happen almost exclusively to smaller people.

Effects of stress on your INR

Hi

In my experience stress does greatly effect your INR. I lost my step father very suddenly last June and my INR reading went sky high. I think the fact that I didn't eat a lot in the couple of days following his death made a difference to my levels. They settled down a few weeks later though.

The stress factor is someting to consider definitely!

Yes, stress can affect your INR, but especially so can the heat & humidity--especially if you exercise in it. I live in Florida, and the heat and humidity has been horrible and my NIR dropped more than it ever has this past month. I am an "avid"walker and slight jogger--whew is very hard right now! First time my dosage has changed in ages! I look forward to either fall or a nice trip to the mountains (which I understand are also hot and humid right now as well!). Hang in there and keep cool!
