Hi everybody--thank you all for your good wishes--things are progressing as expected with Steve. He had a very tough day yesterday but his spirit and determination amaze me! The chest tubes were removed in the AM--and you all know how painful that is. He's pretty much exhausted but can't get comfortable enough to sleep. He prefers sitting in the chair to lying in bed though.
I wish you all could have seen him last evening. In spite of the pain he was experiencing---he put on a santa hat and a flashing Rudolf nose to take his walk around the unit---and he passed out candy canes to nurses and visitors! People were coming out of rooms saying "OMG! LOOK at this!" Even in his weakened condition,he was able to make OTHERS smile. It was truly beautiful to me and I could hardly hold back the tears! What a guy--huh?
And... for his final "stroll" of the night-- he went without his walker! I was so proud of him!
He'll be coming home on Tues and I'm sure the next posting you all receive will be from THE MAN himself!
Thank you all again for your support..prayers..and good wishes!
