Thanks for that, Christian. I'm so happy for you! But frankly, Hawks fans will remember it for quite awhile. Seemed to me that Hassleback fell apart after about the 5th bad call. And while it is almost certain the Steelers would have won the game regardless, the teams were well matched and I think it was most unfortunate that the frustration with the refs brought the contest down. I mean, did you see Hassleback's face after that one call? He just lost it, poor kid!! After that, those bullet fast laser precise passes began to crumble. I just think we could've watched a much more exciting match if the refs hadn't pounded one team.
But, congrats to all you Steelers fans!! Winning is a grand thing!! Enjoy!!

Yes, it was an ugly game. I'm not so sure all of those calls were "bad" (There are pictures circulating on the web that show Roethlisberger got the ball over the goal line, and there's no question Darrel Jackson pushed off Chris Hope -- though it was a measly little push. Seattle also had a fumble waved off as an incomplete pass after the receiver clearly made both a catch and a "football move"). But the personal foul call on Hasslebeck was horrible. And that call did put us in position to score on that fantastic pass from Randel El.
I don't think that the officials changed the result (Pittsburgh did win by 11 points -- it wasn't a close game). But it likely would have been closer but for a bad call or two. Good quarterbacks don't get so rattled by bad calls. They just win. Hasslebeck looked lost in the second and fourth quarters. I've watched the game several times on tape already, and his decision-making at the end of each half was horrible. I don't know if it was the adjustments the Steelers made after the first quarter to cut off the short outside pass or if it was simply an emotional breakdown.
Seattle is a young, talented team. They'll have other chances.
