Ok this is for you Christian. The Steelers won the Super Bowl!!! They will be celebrating in Findlay, Ohio as well as Pittsburgh! Northwest Ohio is so proud of Big Ben!!! There were some pretty good plays during the game. I wasn't sure how it was going to end until it was over!

STEELERS SUPER BOWL XLCHAMPS!!!

CONGRATULATIONS STEELERS!!!!!

My Dad is VERY happy tonight :). He he he.

Christian, I suspect you are partying tonight ... as well you should be ;). BTW, I'll be in PA this August ... I posted details about that trip in the "Planning vacations" thread, if you are interested. We can celebrate a Steelers win ... a few months late, of course ... he he he.

I've screamed myself hoarse. Jill just passed out. God bless her, she deserved a party.

After all the crap we went through in 2005, we really deserved this. I'll never forget it.

Yeeea, haa!

Yeeea, haa!

:D I sure was a bit worried the first quarter, things didn't appear to be going our way. Seattle put in a good showing, but it just wasn't their turn! Oh well, momma said there would be days like that. Way to go, STEELERS!

and then the coach just up and retired. What a win. Since daughter and I don't keep up with football anymore (no men in our household), we we chose a color but we thought it was Seattle at first! Found out pretty quickly that yellow was Steelers - a good thing because my daughter-in-law is from Philly and I am sure there was a superbowl party at their house and much after-game celebration.

Didn't you love the monster ad?

Yahoo!!!! I Was Behind The Steelers All The Way.....they Truly Deserve The Win, And Cowher Looks Like A Friend Of Mine's Ex Husband, Too.....but Then Holmgren Looks Like My Pulmonary Guy.....

Still, I Love The Steelers....they Remind Me Of The Old Style Football Teams.....am So Glad For All Their Fans.

Congratulations to you steeler fans. I went to my first super bowl party yesterday. Didn't watch the game much I admit, but football isn't my thing. I was slightly pulling for Seattle because I admire the quarterback, but in the end no skin off of my back. So, you Pittsburghers enjoy yourself; it is nice to have your favorite team win!

I've been up all night except for a one hour nap around 5:00. I taped the game and have watched the last ten minutes about five times. It was an ugly win, but nobody will remember that in a month or two. Seeing Cowher, Ward and Bettis with that trophy just chokes me up. We were at Heinz Field on Saturday looking at the four Lombardi trophies they have in the Great Hall. They're going to have to renevoate to make room for Number Five!

Jill and I took the day off, so we're going to take a nap and then maybe go meet the team at the airport.

Did you guys see all those Steeler fans in the stands? Can you believe it? Baseball has the Red Sox.... Hockey the Red Wings. And the NFL has the Pittsburgh Steelers. Our fans and this city amaze me. It's great to be a part of it.

Christian, I thought about you throughout the game. Because all of "my" teams self-destructed, I didn't really care who won. But I figured you were pretty giddy last night. I presume the whole city (state?) was. It appears it spread to most of the northeast!!!!

Boring game, good parties.

And did anyone else think that Mick Jagger and company looked silly up there? I mean, really - if I want to see gyrating, skinny 60 year old hips I can look a lot closer to home. The old boy is past it. And Keith Richards - groan. I think I'll like Keith better in "Pirates of the Caribbean" this summer than creaking around on stage.

Thanks for that, Christian. I'm so happy for you! But frankly, Hawks fans will remember it for quite awhile. Seemed to me that Hassleback fell apart after about the 5th bad call. And while it is almost certain the Steelers would have won the game regardless, the teams were well matched and I think it was most unfortunate that the frustration with the refs brought the contest down. I mean, did you see Hassleback's face after that one call? He just lost it, poor kid!! After that, those bullet fast laser precise passes began to crumble. I just think we could've watched a much more exciting match if the refs hadn't pounded one team.

But, congrats to all you Steelers fans!! Winning is a grand thing!! Enjoy!!

Congratulatons to the Steelers! Although I take offense with the Steelers fans being "the" fans for the NFL. Ever been to a Broncos game? You'll leave scared, thinking the darn building's coming down! I think the new stadium shakes as much as the old Mile High.

I remember going to an Oakland Raiders game with my dad years and years ago (anyone see Freddy B., aka the Stickum King, and Jim Plunkett in the MVP lineup - wow!) against the Steelers - the entertainment was in the stands. My dad never took me to another game - too dangerous.

See you next year!!!!

Yes hockey has the RED WINGS!!!
Glad to see that Hockeytown was so good to the Steelers! I am so happy for the Bus and for Big Ben!! Of course I am happy for all the Steelers, even though I am a Dolphins fan. The Steelers were my team in Jr. High and High School, but then I discovered Dan Marino:p and it was all Dolphins from there. (Well Dolphins and 49ers, I also discovered Joe Montana:D )

Congrats again to the Steelers and all their fans!!

Hooray Steelers!

Hooray Steelers!

Next year my Washington Redskins! (I finally am getting season tickets after being on a waiting list since the days of Slingin' Sammy Baugh :D

But for this Super Bowl, congrats to the Steelers. In my book, they deserved to win on the strength of that wide receiver reverse/pass to another wide receiver alone. I love plays like that! Give us the razzle and the dazzle, not just 3 yards and a cloud of dust (or astroturf spangles or whatever).:D

And to Seahawks fans, yes the close calls did not go your way but you had a great season. (After all, you beat my Skins in the playoffs. Grrrrrrrrrr!

I was not at all impressed by the Stones performance. I kept waiting for Mick to keel over. It seemed like he was only half singing. As much as I am sure they were paid, they could have done a better job.

Super bowls are for young people. I fell asleep just after the Seattle got the interception and ran for a touchdown. :(

Steelers

Steelers

I discovered they were showing the game on one of our television channels. So who was who? One team in yellow and one in dark blue? Call me thick but I couldn't make head nor tail of the game - so I went to bed. :D

Seattle is the closest thing us Alaskans have to a pro team, so of course I was rooting for them - oh well, maybe next year

Im glad the Steelers won, they deserved it.

I am still trying to get over that horrible Halftime show from the Rolling Stones, I think its time for them to throw in the towel.

I've been to several Broncos games in Pittsburgh, including the AFC Championship loss in 1997, and there was never a significant Bronco presence. But there were (at least) 9000 Steeler fans in Mile High two weeks ago... Have you seen the pictures after the game? Did you read the articles in the Denver papers begging your fans not to sell us tickets? The same articles ran in Indy and Seattle... Heck, every single school district in Southwestern PA declared a two hour delay today so that the kids could stay up late banging pots and pans. Three million Terrible Towels were sold in the last three weeks (there are two million people in Southwestern PA). Steeler fans outnumbered Seahawks fans in Ford Field by a 25-1 margin. Enough said. :)

I always thought of Denver as a hockey town, right after Detroit and Toronto.

I understand you're just being loyal to your team, but the Broncos simply don't have the national following that the Steelers have. Pittsburgh has exported millions of fans all over the country since the mills closed. Denver imports people -- there's no reason to leave once you're there. The Cowboys are the only team that can compare.

Anyway, all this is beside the point. The Steelers won Super Bowl XL and I'm one happy sonofagun.

Yes, it was an ugly game. I'm not so sure all of those calls were "bad" (There are pictures circulating on the web that show Roethlisberger got the ball over the goal line, and there's no question Darrel Jackson pushed off Chris Hope -- though it was a measly little push. Seattle also had a fumble waved off as an incomplete pass after the receiver clearly made both a catch and a "football move"). But the personal foul call on Hasslebeck was horrible. And that call did put us in position to score on that fantastic pass from Randel El.

I don't think that the officials changed the result (Pittsburgh did win by 11 points -- it wasn't a close game). But it likely would have been closer but for a bad call or two. Good quarterbacks don't get so rattled by bad calls. They just win. Hasslebeck looked lost in the second and fourth quarters. I've watched the game several times on tape already, and his decision-making at the end of each half was horrible. I don't know if it was the adjustments the Steelers made after the first quarter to cut off the short outside pass or if it was simply an emotional breakdown.

Seattle is a young, talented team. They'll have other chances.
