Mary

As it turned out, JimL, Shirley, and his family were in St. Louis Friday night, and I was there with my husband, Bob. We managed to get together for a little while after dinner and got a few pictures snapped. It was great getting to meet both Jim and Shirley, and I only wish it could have been a little longer visit. Maybe next time!:)

In front of the fireplace in the Drury Inn in St. Louis; Shirley and I had an interesting walk, about a mile, back to our motel, no real danger, just nervousness about someone following us. We crowded too many things into last week, the arch, Union Station, hiking in Arkansas, a brewery tour, a cathedral tour, a tour of a closed seminary, before it came time to meet Mary and Bob.

That is a beautiful place and it looks antique. I have heard St Louis is not very safe. And that one should not get lost in certain areas of the city. Scary walk for you.

I did feel a bit safer walking last Tuesday night with two of my sons, both bigger than me, even though we covered several miles then, and did see a few street people.

It sounds like you had a really nice visit. I've always enjoyed meeting other VR.com members at the reunions or when traveling. ChristinaL and I met for lunch one day in surroundings not very dissimilar from that in your picture. I have fond memories of that day. Geebee and I got together a while back and enjoyed that visit so much as well. I hope when traveling through this area other members get in touch with me and maybe spend a few minutes together.

Ann, did you see the episode of City Confidential that featured St. Louis? I was a little surprised that it depicted it as you said, not the safest sity around.

Hello from a former St. Louisan (sp ??). It's true that there are parts of St. Louis which are not very safe. If I ever get back to St. Louis, which I don't do since my parents passed away, I would love to meet some of you "valvers" from the area.

And I would love to meet you, Adrienne!:)

Heh...hard to believe that entire road trip is almost 3 months ago already :(.

And, Jim, I'm guessing you went south into and around Indy and avoided Chicago, eh? If so ... good choice :).

Absolutely, Cort. Being it is winter here, although no snow, I wanted to head south as soon as possible, so yes, around Indianapolis. Illinois is still just as flat as I remembered it, although there are some wonderful drives in Missouri.

Hey Cort!
I don't think the flash was working better, we used the automatic camera software to brighten the picture with Jim. (New with this new computer)Maybe I can go back and fiddle with "our" picture too!:)
I have another picture that shows Jim's and my height difference so I will post it. Of course, I think there's going to be a big height difference with anyone who has their picture taken with Jim; he's TALL!

He he ... yes, there certainly are :).

And, I don't blame ya for going straight south to Indy. Heck, even if it was summer, I'd do the same thing. Chicago traffic stinks, to put it mildly. I much prefer my western trips ... and going south ... than having to deal with Chicago traffic ;).

Yes, indeedy, he is :).

And, let me know if you're able to fool with that pic ... it doesn't look bad, by any means, just a bit odd ;). He he he!
