My 1953 Model right heel has been giving me fits on runs of 3 to 4 miles lately and upon getting up in the morning, I can't walk for the pain. Finally went to the doc and the x-ray clearly shows a nice sized bone spur. Apparently, not much you can do for these except take a Coumadin friendly anti-inflammatory and just live with it. Any runners, or anyone, have any past experience with painful spurs? Hoping to get back out on the streets as soon as possible! All valvers know it's always something...but geez!

Hi Les,

Would wearing a red hat help change the mood ;) :D

On a serious side...hope your foot gets to feeling better soon. Have they found a Coumadin friendly anti-inflammatory? My guess would be Prednisone

Take care.

Prednisone isn't friendly to anything, including a patient. I have nice titanium hip because of that stuff.

I agree....it's nasty, dangerous stuff. Out of despiration...I used a 3 day dose pack a few summers ago. This was after suffering for 8 weeks. Advil would have been great I am sure. Not with Coumadin though.

If I could help it, I would never touch it again with a ten foot pole.

They had me on 60mg a day for 5 years and even a few full bore IV drips of it to stop my lung bleeding on a couple of occasions. I probably wouldn't be around if it weren't for the stuff, but man does it take a toll on your bones and body. Nasty nasty stuff. I still have a bottle in the cupboard for emergency use, but honestly, I think I'll just bleed and forget about it.

Was your avatar on predisone? Is that why, IT, looks like that? :D .I'm guessing it was a bird on predisone..that grew antlers, a snake mouth and a big one eye?  Am I close? :p Bonnie

Les, I've been on both Celebrex and something now called Relafen for some terrible shoulder blade/shoulder pain. The Celebrex did nothing for the pain, but this Relafen has definitely deadened it; HOWEVER, and I've posted this on the Coumadin forum, my INR dropped dangerously low after five days of use, even though Walgreens said the effect would be enhanced. (Al even agreed that he thought Relafen would cause a slight increase.) It may be the Relafen, or it could be the heavy exercise I'm doing now (which can lower the INR), not sure, but I'll let you know. It certainly has worked (painwise) for me when nothing else has. Just a thought.

Ross, I'm with you on the prednisone. My husband took high doses for over a year, and his hips and knees are shot.
