For the ladies on the forum who take coumadin--I know we've had a discussion about menstruation and coumadiin. I, however, haven't had a period in 14 years. Since my surgery, I've had some spotting, which I did mention to my cardiologist and they don't seem concerned. But seeing as how I haven't had a period in forever, it just doesn't seem right to me. If anyone wants to PM me rather than discuss on the forum, I understand--it's pretty personal LOL. (and we don't want any of the guys to get creeped out by us talking about female body function stuff LOL). thanks in advance!!

OHS makes your body do all sorts of crazy things. I wouldn't worry about it for now. But, as I'm sure you already know, if it continues see your plumber ...er....I mean doctor.

It may be an unusual effect of the surgery. However, it can be the warfarin unmasking a problem. By this I mean that warfarin can make something bleed sooner than it would if you were not on it. If it continues, you should see a gynecologist. Some people have written to me to say that warfarin saved their life because the bleeding tipped off a small problem that got solved before it became a major problem.

Thanks, Al. I think I may call today and see about getting an appointment. with my bizarre medical history I don't like anything that's out of the the ordinary (and not directly related to my surgery!).

Please have it checked out.

Please have it checked out.

Carolyn,

Not to scare you or anything.... but that?s how I found out I had cervical cancer. I was bleeding when I shouldn?t be.

Please have it checked out. My gynecologist/oncologist told me it was a very fast moving type cancer. I visited my PCP on Wed., Gyno on Thurs, biopsy on Friday...went to Denver over the weekend visited my gyno/onc up there on Tues... and had radical hysterectomy the next day. Boy was that a week of my life I'll never forget!

I really think you should have it checked.... SOON.

Yeah, having a hysterectomy is very radical. I had a total in 1985 because of a pre-cancerous condition and thought the OB/GYN could just give me a pill that would solve the problem, rather than having surgery. Two years ago I told a cardiologist the same thing after he said I needed valve surgery: "Isn't there a pill you can just give me?"

Seriously, yes, Carolyn should have it checked out. I had PM'd her that perhaps she might be having vaginal or uterine hemangiomas. I had those when I was about 25-26, and my OB/GYN thought I had melanomas. Most of the time, they aren't a problem. But they do tend to keep filling up with blood and eventually they burst; there's no pain, just spotting. Laser surgery in 1976 couldn't get rid of them. Don't want to fool with them now ...

I will call tomorrow about getting them checked out. You're right, it's not normal and with my history, I do worry it could be something else (which is not what I need to be worrying about right now). For what it's worth, no spotting today. Yesterday morning I had done ALOT of walking, when I went to the hospital to work I had to park in the most remote lot. Still......it should be confirmed that it's "nothing".
thanks for worrying about me!!

Glad you are getting it check out.

Glad you are getting it check out.

Carolyn,

Certain things made mine bleed too... & I ain?t tellin what! :p lol And mine wasn?t a steady flow or all the time either. I?m sure glad you are getting it checked out.

Marsha... having a hysterectomy is one of the best things I?ve ever done! FREEDOM at last! :D

My 2 cents, :D

Ask your Cardiologist to recommend a GYN for you... he/she should know of a good one that knows about OHS. My Cardiologist's office was quick to give me a good recommendation for one.

I went to gyn doctor and he put me on depo-prevera shot every three months. It helped me to keep from getting anemic. I was a heavy bleeder berfore surgery. after, on warafin, got worse. After a year, no more. I have been on the shot for three years and am single. It is a birth control shot. But am now 40 and ten more years before change. Good luck to you hon.
