Barb and I took a fast weekend trip into Southern Colorado. Barb is generous with her time when I see a potential picture. I got a lot of pictures that I lked, and will try to start posting some on my blog tomorrow.
We were in an area with abundant wildlife, so I tried my hand at the deer and the antelope. I know for sure I need a stronger lens--it is really hard to get close enough to the antelope for a decent picture. We were coming home after dark coming over Via Grande (near our home) when we nearly got posted ourselves. I was driving under 40 miles per hour watching for elk when Barb screamed "stop". A huge bull elk had glided out of the forest into the path of the car. These guys seem to have no fear. We were driving our Jeep Cherokee. I have seen many elk, and I am not exaggerating when I say he was tall enough, and close enough, to have rested his chin on the top of our car.
We got home a few minutes ago, and I am ready to put the trip behind me for the night, and get some sleep. In the meantime here is a mountain shot that took a required a bit of climbing by your photographer. I was pretty sure I would like it if I could get to the right place from which to take the picture. I hope you enjoy.
