A PARENT'S WISH

If you like Josh Groban's music and are a parent or know a parent, you may enjoy this.
Takes a minute to download but well worth the wait.
This is a pretty incredible message.Grab a tissue.

Thanks to Pat Lawson of Nackawic for sending this along to us.

Thank you Ross. I needed several Kleenex. This is so timely for me and my husband's family. My In-laws have aged so much in the last year and so many of the things described in the beautiful presentation are things they are going through now.

I am afraid to open it, I get weepy under normal circumstances, I am afraid I will cry and never stop...

That was a tear jerker, Ross!! But quite lovely and very to the point for what I am dealing with when I'm with my father. He often apologizes to me and I actually answer him with some of those very kinds of things. He and I were connected from day one, so frankly, once I kind of figured out what was going on, how to actually accept it, it hasn't been that tough (as long as I get in the zone to be with him -- he doesn't function in my normal zone!). I think it is much easier because he and I have that connection, sort of an undefinable understanding. Not everyone has that. Without it, acceptance might be more difficult, and patience.

There was wisdom in that piece. Thanks for bringing it to us.

Oh, Ross. How did you know- so appropos for Dick and I as we are dealing with his Dad who will (if we are lucky) reach his 102nd birthday this April. Things are going downhill quickly even though he is still living on his own and we may just have to make a hasty trip home soon to help my sister-in-law care for him and just to "be there" for him. Thanks for the link- Maguerite was right- lots of "wisdom" in that link!

Thanks

Thanks

Ross, Very nice to see that this Friday morning. Last week I was out of town at a funeral for a wonderrful man that passed at 94. Strangely it was a very happy time. But happiness is his legacy...Anyway as soon as I finish typing I'm going upstairs to help my soon to be 90 year old housemate get dressed. He has Alzheimers. Tomorrow I will visit my mother, and take her out for her 80th birthday. The soon to be 90 guy and his late wife took care of me when I had my heart surgery. And my mother certainly did all the things mentioned in that touching slide show. It isn't easy, but I'm getting better at it... So thanks for the gift! Brian

My mom will turn 75 this year and is starting to have some health issues. She lives alone and I am an only child. This brought tears to my eyes and I wll try to remember the words when its my time to take care of my mom like she took care of me when I was growing up. My dad died when I was small and she raised me on her own.

Josh Groban is one of my favorite singers. I have every one of his CD's and this is my favorite song. Thanks Ross for sending this. Both my parent's and my husband's parents are gone. Now, we are getting to be the old folks.

Ross,
thanks for posting this link - and the kleenex warning. It was truly beautiful and something that all of us with older parents need to see and take to heart. Sue
