I've been on Sotalol for about three to four weeks and it appeared to sort things out but in the last few days I've noticed my heart beating in a very slow rhythm and an irregular one. However it does revert to a normal rhythm eventually. Is it likely that my body has adjusted to the new meds and is overrriding its effects. I was just getting used to a normal rhythm and finally relaxing to a greater extent but now it appears to have taken a step back.

I second what Ross says. I've been on sotalol and I needed several dose changes myself. Call your doctor.

Best,

Sotalol is NOT a Time Released drug and needs to be taken at least twice a day to be effective over 24 hours and maybe even 3 times a day, with proper dose adjustments.

As the others have said, you should contact your Cardiologist to figure out what is happening
and what dosing schedule you need to follow for it to be fully effective for you.

I tried getting in contact with my cardiologist which was a non starter as I think things differ in the UK as I have to be referred by my GP (local Dr) which is a pain in the behind. Got my Dr's appointment today so hopefully this will move things in the right direction.
Just an aside, does greater exercise help to settle an irregular heart rate in any way. I realise of course any exercise is a positive thing.

Thanks for your replies.

While exercise helps to strengthen the heart,I wouldn't make any extreme changes in your exercise routine until you find out the cause of your irregular rate. And when you do increase your exercise,do so in increments.
