*I had some really bad news today...Up until last January (when I had to stop work due to ill health)...I worked in a refuge for women and children who suffered from domestic violence. I worked with a lovely lady (she was American) she is 40 years old and has 2 children, ages 10 and 15yrs old. Well, she has just been diagnosed with colon cancer, and it has spread to both of her lungs....it is terminal. She had to wait 7months for a colonoscopy (sp?) due to our shoddy health service!!!! She is such a lovely person..so caring etc. Life sucks!!!!!!!

Jacqui - so sorry to read of your sad news. I will remember this woman and her children in my prayers.

Jacqui, I'm very sorry to read about your friend. I hope her children will be okay.

Jacqui, I am so very sorry to hear about your friend and co-worker. I will keep her and her children in my prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing this with us. LINDA

Jacqui,
How sad for the woman and her 2 children. Having lost my mother to liver cancer right after I turned 16...my sister was 14, I know how big a hole that leaves in a family. I will keep this family in my prayers.

Sorry to hear it. Know what you are going through. Have a friend with the same illness. She has been fighting it for two years now. She is in the hospital. Pulled her feeding tub a few days ago. She is expected to pass within the next few days. It's more difficult with children involved. Which is the case.

I am really sorry as well Jacqui......

More sad news.......

More sad news.......

My lovely friend ''Susie'' died. She was only 41 years old. She spent the last year of her life campagning for better health system for the ''poor'' people in Ireland who cannot afford private health insurance. Thanks to Susie they are building a new endoscopy unit at our local hospital, and it is being named after her.

There is also a fundraising event being held to raise money for a local hospice, so people who need hospice care can spend the end of their lives near their family and friends. Susie had to go to Dublin, which is at least 2 hours drive away, (more if the traffic is bad). This will be called the ''Susie Long Hospice''.

I am very sad and cant believe she is .....gone !!!!

Any prayers for her 2 children, husband and family would be appreciated.

Jacqui,
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds like a carbon copy of my friend David. Same age, same cancer, same outcome. My prayers are with you and her family..........Tom

Jacqui,

It is very sad to learn about the passing of your friend. No words can express the sorrow you, her family and other friends are going through at this time. Stories like Susie's constantly remind me that work related problems and issues are so trival and insignificant. Susie's story also forces us to examin the issue of what kind of legacy will we leave behind. Her life will no doubt have a positive impact on the lives many, many people.

Wonderful Legacy

Wonderful Legacy

Dear Jacqui, I am sorry for your loss, and know it will be very hard for her family, but I hope you will all find some comfort in your memories, and in the remarkable legacy she left. There are not many of us that can accomplish so much! My love to you, Brian
