Because of a comment by someone here on VR.com (for which I am eternally grateful) I was able to get my college sons enrolled in a University medical study entitled, ?Echocardiography for Genetic Heart Disease?. None of my grown children have murmurs or any indication of trouble. The younger son has just had his ?free? echo (paid cash for my athletic daughter?s as you may recall??just to be sure before she went off to college to play sports).
The report was good, my son (21) rather enjoyed the whole experience of the echo (he?s an artist and they got into quite a discussion about DaVinci and heart valves). I just got the report in the mail. Not much to go on. I think I should call them and see if I can get some of the measurements so we have a baseline in case anything goes awry. What do you guys think about that?
And, I know nothing of mitral valves. Can anyone elaborate on these brief findings for me? Thank you so much!!
?The aortic valve and aorta are normal. There is prolapse of the anterior mitral valve leaflet, without significant regurgitation. The left atrium is normal in size. Left ventricular function is normal. There is no evidence of pulmonary hypertension (estimated pressure 21 mmHg).?
Thanks for your help!!
