Hey everyone!

Dad had a quiet day yesterday. He got Pizza Hut for lunch and Subway for dinner. Eating like a king and wetting the other patients' appetites, I'm sure. The aroma sort of carried through the hospital.

Exciting news. They sent dad home this morning. Unfortunately I was not able to be there to get some pictures (had to be at school ), but my sister was going to take some pictures of him packing up and leaving. I know he was getting a little stir crazy in the hospital. And I'm willing to bet that the dog will be even more excited that he's home than dad will be ;) Unfortunately for Bo, though, he will not be able to give dad the warm, loving welcome he will be dying to give him. That'll have to wait!

I will put some exciting pictures up of his homecoming either tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Have a wonderful afternoon!
Courtney

Sounds Great! Maybe not the healthiest foods, but hey, he's eating and right now, that's all that counts.

So good to hear your daddy made it home Courtney! Tell him to take things easy & not to get too frustrated because he can't do everything he'd like to do. It takes awhile but all will come back in time! :)

Glad to hear everyting is going well. Let him eat what sounds good for right now. I craved bean & cheese burrito's and subway. Hope to hear soon he's all settled in for a good restful recovery.

I'm surprised they let him eat a salty pizza, but I assume he must have been doing exceptionally well. Glad to hear he's home. Tell him congrats on what sounds like a successful hospital stay. I hope his recovery at home continues to go as well.

Snoopy's INR and eating

Snoopy's INR and eating

The INR of 1.04 was the result of the first coumadin pill. They have continually increased the mgs because the doctor said his liver is so healthy it is just laughing at the coumadin. Of course, they don't want to be too agressive too soon because, as the doctor said, some can only handle .2 mg and they needed to get a feel for Randy's tolerance. They told him he could come home as soon as his was at 1.5 since he is at the top of the patient compliance rating! This morning it was 1.82 - dfinitely enough to fit the bill. He will, of course, continue to have it monitored until the magic number is reached.

I asked the doctor personally about Randy's eating habits, two times. His response was "no special diet". Randy's arteries are perfectly clear and this surgery was not necessary because of bad eating habits. Of course, we both know it is important to eat healthy, for many reasons, and plan on doing just that. But, the nurse said for him to eat whatever he wants if it will make him eat. He has not had an issue with his appetite at all! He has been lucky - very little nauseau and not much pain, it appears.

Thank you for all your support and concern. I know he is anxious to get online and respond as well as get up to date on others he has been following. I wish all of you the same speedy recovery my husband has had so far!

Randy's wife, Deb

I'm glad Snoopy has progressed smoothly and is home! I'll continue to pray for him as he recovers.

Thanks for keeping us informed. It's wonderful to 'read' the excitement in your family's message!

Thanks for all the updates Deb and Courtney you guys did a really great job. I hope you were able to get a little rested up. I know how great it is to have your loved one home where they belong, even IF it is alittle scarey the first day or so. I hope the next couple weeks are very smooth.

Hey everyone,

So, I've gotten really bad about posting since dad left the hospital. He is doing great. And the dog is thrilled to have him home! I've actually had to get back to my life this week (school and work!). We measured his scar yesterday; just under 8 1/2 inches. Dad is glad to be home. We're all glad to have him home. Promise I'll put those homecoming pics up soon!
