Hey gang,

I'm back - on the other side of the mountain and what a relief!!

Although my daughter Courtney tried to keep me up to speed on all of your posts, to be honest, they all kind of went over my head or maybe into the drug haze. I have not yet read through them for myself, but will be doing so over the next couple of days and getting back to you.

What I DO want to say now though is I am so thankful and grateful to have 'met' such a wonderful group of people. All of your thoughts, prayers, compassion, advice, and counsel are so greatly appreciated. It was a fantastic feeling knowing that you all were out there pulling for me.

Now I want to repay as best I can that support that you provided to me.

I'll be posting several threads over the next couple of days sort of summing up my experience, at least what I remember of it. Overall, let me just say, I consider myself blessed. I actually had very little anxiety the night before, but I did still take a Xanax about 7 p.m. just to be safe. The morning of surgery, Wednesday, the last thing I remember was them putting the mask on and then waking up in CSICU late that afternoon - no throat tube in (thankfully! that was one of my biggest fears!) and wanting them to give me ice. They moved me into the step-down unit the next morning and it has all been downhill since. They had a little trouble getting my INR up to speed (the doc said I had a very healthy liver one that was laughing at their attempts) so I didn't get to come home until Monday. Tuesday we had to go to the Coumadin Clinic for my first appointment and afterwards we went shopping at Wal-Mart. Since then, I have been here at home.

More to follow later.

Again, thanks to one and all!

Randy

Welcome Home. Sounds like you are doing great. Now don't over-do it. Geez, Wal-mart, shoot I didn't go there until about 4 weeks post-op and then I used the little electric cart. Don't ask about how many people I ran over:eek:
Anyway, take care of yourself.:D

Welcome to this side of the mountain! Don't rush things tho... you have lots of time to heal.... take it!
Glad to hear all has gone so well for you... hope it continues!

Welcome home, take it easy and don't overdo it. I am 17 days post op and still pretty weak, but seem to be getting better little by little everyday. But you will have your ups and downs, don't expect to be perfect in a few weeks! Praying for a quick recovery.

Welcome home! Wasn't your first shower at home just fantastic??!!!

Hey Teresa,

You are sooo right!! While the first shower in the hospital was good, I froze to death while taking it. The first one home was just like heaven! I ran the water for a while and let the bathroom get nice and warm and steamy, then just luxuriated in it! I did find that it was somewhat exhausting. I think it was raising my arms to do my hair, face and shoulders.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome home. I hear you about the not overdoing it! Sorry to hear you are having a slower time getting your strength back, but glad you are growing stronger each day.

Take care of yourself.

Welcome to this side of the mountain Randy - glad to hear all went well - the view is lovely isn't it?? :D

Thank you! You are absolutely right - the view from this side of the mountain is most lovely!

You had your surgery the day before mine, how are you feeling and doing? For me it is hard to believe that as of today it has been 10 days already.

Take care and I look forward to talking with you more.

Hi Snoopy,
Glad you are home. Hope you have a restful recovery. Hope to hear more from you later.

Thanks bunches! So far it has been very restful, almost boring at times. We are watching all the West Wing episodes to pass the time. I did ask for them to send me some stuff from work to help occupy my time. But it is at an as I feel up to fiddling with it basis - no deadline!
