Hey gang,
I'm back - on the other side of the mountain and what a relief!!
Although my daughter Courtney tried to keep me up to speed on all of your posts, to be honest, they all kind of went over my head or maybe into the drug haze. I have not yet read through them for myself, but will be doing so over the next couple of days and getting back to you.
What I DO want to say now though is I am so thankful and grateful to have 'met' such a wonderful group of people. All of your thoughts, prayers, compassion, advice, and counsel are so greatly appreciated. It was a fantastic feeling knowing that you all were out there pulling for me.
Now I want to repay as best I can that support that you provided to me.
I'll be posting several threads over the next couple of days sort of summing up my experience, at least what I remember of it. Overall, let me just say, I consider myself blessed. I actually had very little anxiety the night before, but I did still take a Xanax about 7 p.m. just to be safe. The morning of surgery, Wednesday, the last thing I remember was them putting the mask on and then waking up in CSICU late that afternoon - no throat tube in (thankfully! that was one of my biggest fears!) and wanting them to give me ice. They moved me into the step-down unit the next morning and it has all been downhill since. They had a little trouble getting my INR up to speed (the doc said I had a very healthy liver one that was laughing at their attempts) so I didn't get to come home until Monday. Tuesday we had to go to the Coumadin Clinic for my first appointment and afterwards we went shopping at Wal-Mart. Since then, I have been here at home.
More to follow later.
Again, thanks to one and all!
Randy
